Diablo II: Summoning Necromancer
What Items You Will Want

Printable version here

Some of these can be gambled for, some can be easily found, and some you will probably have to trade for. But however you get them, this is what you'll want.

Armor: The armor that Necromancers and Sorceresses are always after is the Silks of the Victor, for it's +1 All Skills. This is basically the only reason to put as many as 100 points in to strength, but if you don't want that much strength, or can't get a hold of a Silks, there are some good alternatives.

Heavenly Garb
Light Plate
Defense: 216(varies)(Base Defense: 90-107)
Durability: 255
Required Strength: 41
Enhanced Defense
Regenerate Mana 25%
All Resistances +10
Goldskin
Full Plate Mail
Defense: 225-236
Durability: 255
Required Strength: 80
+2 To Light Radius
All Resistances +30
+75 Defense
Attacker Takes Damage of 1-10(varies)*
While Goldskin is typically desired for Bowazons, its +30 all resistances makes it handy for a Necromancer as well.
Silks of the Victor
Ancient Armor
Defense: 218-233
Durability: 255
Required Strength: 100
+2 To Light Radius
+1 To All Skills
5% Mana Stolen Per Hit

*Note

Goldskin: Attacker Takes Damage of 1-10 will not work with ranged weapons.

Belts:
Belts are a bit more debatable. The two good Necromancer belts have good effects, but their usefulness depends on how you play. If you get hit frequently, and are frequently low on Mana, Nightsmoke is definitely for you. If you get hit rarely, and don't mind having just one row of healing potions, then go for the Lenymo Sash.

Lenymo
Sash
Defense: 2
Durability: 60
Two rows for potions (8 potions total)
+1 To Light Radius
Regenerate Mana 30%
All Resistances +5
+15 To Mana
Nightsmoke
Belt
Defense: 5
Durability: 80
Required Strength: 25
Three rows for potions (12 potions total)
50% Damage Taken Goes to Mana*
Damage Reduced By 2
All Resistances +10
+20 To Mana

Boots: When it comes to running (and running away), the Treads of Cthon are the fastest, and let you run a good long while. The bonus defense versus missile helps too. Another good set of boots (no pun intended) are Vidala's Fetlock, the Set Light Plated Boots, due to their huge bonus to stamina.

Vidala's Fetlock
Light Plated Boots
Defense: 9-11
Durability: 30
Required Strength: 50
Required Level: 14
Fastest Run/Walk
+150 to Maximum Stamina
Treads of Cthon
Chain Boots
Defense: 8-9
Durability: 80
Required Strength: 30
50% Stamina Drain
Fastest Run/Walk
+50 Defense VS. Missile*
+10 To Life
*Notes

Treads of Cthon: +50 Defense VS. Missile: Reduces the % chance of getting hit by missiles (by raising the effective armor rating)

Gloves: There are two different gloves you may want. Most people want Frostburns, but until then Magefist work well, and some people prefer it anyway.

Magefist
Light Gauntlets
Defense: 9-11
Durability: 90
Required Strength: 45
+1 To Fire Skills*
Faster Cast Rate
Regenerate Mana 25%
Adds 1-5 Fire Damage
Frostburn
Gauntlets
Defense: 42-45
Durability: 120
Required Strength: 60
Enhanced Damage
Maximum Mana 40%*
Adds 1-6 Cold Damage, Cold Duration: 2 Seconds
+30 Defense
*Note

Magefist: These will not raise a skill point in Fire Golem.
Frostburn: The increase in Mana is added with other items that increase the maximum amount of Mana (Two Stones of Jordan). For example two Stones of Jordan (25% + 25%) and Frostburns (40%) would be 90% more Mana added to the base Mana.

Helms: The best helm for a Necromancer is the Wormskull, or if you can get that, a Tarnhelm (the poor mans Wormskull :)

Tarnhelm
Skull Cap
Defense: 8-11
Durability: 90
+1 To All Skill Levels
25-50% Better Chance of Getting Magic Item(varies)
75% Extra Gold From Monsters
Wormskull
Bone Helm
Defense: 33-36
Durability: 200
Required Strength: 25
+1 To Necromancer Skill Levels
5% Life Stolen Per Hit
Poison Resist 25%
+10 To Mana

Rings and Amulets: The Stone of Jordan ring is undoubtedly the most sought after item in the game, and you're gonna need two of em :) Alternatively if you find some really good rare rings, you may consider using them, but they'll have to be incredible to be worth not using a Stone of Jordan. As for amulets, you'll want a rare amulet with +2 to Necromancer Skill Levels, prismaticism (+ 15-25 resist all), and plus to Mana or life. It'll be tough finding any +2 Necromancer amulet, much less a good rare one. If you can't even find a +1 Necromancer amulet, an Eye of Etlich will give +1 All Skills, but that's even harder to get. :)

Stone of Jordan
Ring
+1 To All Skill Levels
Increase Maximum Mana 25%*
Adds 1-12 Lightning Damage
+20 To Mana
*Note

The artwork for rings are not tied to their stats, so a Stone of Jordans artwork can look like any other ring.

Stone of Jordan: The increase in Mana is added with other items that increase the maximum amount of Mana (Another Stone of Jordan, Frostburns). For example two Stones of Jordan (25% + 25%) and Frostburns (40%) would be 90% more Mana added to the base Mana.

The Eye of Etlich
Amulet
+1-5 To Light Radius(varies)
+1 To All Skill Levels
3-7% Life Stolen Per Hit(varies)
Adds 1/2 to 3/4/5 Cold Damage(varies)
Cold Duration: 2-12 Seconds*
+10-40 Defense vs. Missile(varies)*
As you can see, there are a lot of variables on this unique (too much if you ask me), so it's hard to get a perfect one, and even hard to tell, since Cold Duration isn't displayed. It's main determination between which Eye of Etlich is better is the amount of Life Steal, so you may just want to trade for a 3% Eye, since it won't cost you much
*Notes

The Eye of Etlich: +10-40 Defense vs. Missile: Reduces the % chance of getting hit by missiles (by raising the effective armor rating)

Shields: Here's another debatable one. The most common Necromancer shield is Sigon's Guard, because it is the only shield that has +1 All Skills, has the highest chance to block you can get, and is relatively easy to find, since it's a set item. Alternatively, the Wall of the Eyeless has Faster Cast Rate, and +5 Mana after each kill, which is quite useful for any Mana using class (but you have to get the last hit, ugh), and it looks a lot cooler than Sigon's Guard. :)

Sigon's Guard
Tower Shield
Defense: 22-25
Necromancer's Chance to Block: 64%
Durability: 120
Required Strength: 75
Increased Chance to Block
+1 to All Skills
Wall Of The Eyeless
Bone Shield
Defense: 10-30
Necromancer's Chance to Block: 40%
Paladin Smite Damage: 3 To 6
Durability: 200
Required Strength: 25
+5 to Mana after Each Kill*
Faster Cast Rate
3% Mana Stolen Per Hit
Poison Resist 20%
*Notes

Wall of the Eyeless: +5 to Mana after Each Kill: Will not work when the killing blow is made by a Minion. (Dammit, why not?!)

Weapons: Ume's Lament is just about the ideal Necromancer weapon. It is possible to get a rare wand that's better than Ume's Lament, but it would be difficult, and it's hard enough just to get this. Some people even use them on Sorceresses, because of the Faster Cast, and bonus Mana.

Ume's Lament
Grim Wand
One-Hand Damage: 5 To 11
Durability: 75
Speed for Necromancer: Very Fast
Hit Causes Monster To Flee
Faster Cast Rate
+2 To Necromancer Skill Levels
+40 To Mana
150% Damage To Undead

That's it.
